What does it mean to approach death, to see the light at the end of the tunnel, only to be brought back to Golarion, once again to feel wonder and joy? Ask your fellow party members! Pim went into the dark twice. I can’t even remember who else went out.
But before that happened, the players entered a room and found Jaethal (the goth adventurer) tied up on a couch. A pair of Black Tears cutthroats stood over her, preparing to interrogate her. Nishkiv the Knife was busy supervising. Although someone in the party (Gloin, maybe?) opened the door, Nishkiv was first to act. He hurled one of his many eponymous knives at Gloin, but missed. Others shot crossbows at others, mostly missing. Soon after, one of the cutthroats was dead and the other surrendered. I think Teran cast his electricity spell.
Nishkiv was the victim of Remus’s flurry of fists, or whatever. The party interrogated the survivor, but he didn’t know much more than you knew already: Lady Jamandi was fighting the remaining Black Tears mercenaries.
Jaethal headed back to the great hall, spent. More heroically, the party opened the door to the dueling room seeking Lady Jamandi. They were hit with a blast of arctic air. The two frost giants busy fighting Lady Jamandi were evidently the cause of the frigid air. Their fight didn’t go so well, but neither did the fight against Volodmrya, a Black Tear commander. She’s the one who sent several people off to the great beyond, or at least on the way to start the journey. Teran summoned Scruffy, who unfortunately went down fighting. Lady Jamandi took down the frost giants and then helped end Volodmyra (who was hurting by that time).
All told, Volodmyra was a little tougher than the group should have had to face. But you survived!
The next morning you received your charter. Several other surviving groups also got theirs (most of these had spent the night at other places). You’re finally ready to leave the manor and find out what’s in store for you in the wilds of Brevoy.
