The players found Linzi in a room, hiding from a blind ogre. She’d managed to slash it in the eyes, but couldn’t kill it. Teran cast a tanglethorn spell to trip or slow the ogre (even further, since a blind ogre isn’t exactly Usain Bolt).

Remus’s dream of tripping the ogre with his staff was dashed, but then the ogre burst the entangling vines and stepped through the doorway to the hall where Remus and others were waiting. This gave Remus the trigger he was waiting for. Staff trips ogre, ogre face plants, players proceed to beat on the ogre while he was down. Several players got in good hits. Not Lore, who somehow missed twice. Missed an ogre, lying down. Not sure how that happened.

At any rate, the players killed the ogre before it had a chance to do any damage. Linzi came out, grateful. She showed the players a room behind a secret door in the library. They found a locked chest, but declined to try to steal from it, since they had no reason to steal from host, Lady Jamandi. Probably a good call.

Next they heard labored breathing from another room. When they opened the door, they saw a huge frost giant sitting on the floor, wounded. Also in the room: many dead guards and Black Tear cutthroats. Pim asked the giant who hired him, and the giant got mad and charged. Next thing we knew, Pim charged back?! Pim missed his strike and the giant did not. Pim took 27 hit points, which was way, way more than Pim’s total hit points.

Pim was only the first to enter the Dying condition. Lore did too. And then Teran got frozen by the giant’s frost breath. Things looked bad, but then somehow they made it. Folk healed other folk, several people got in good hits. Linzi shot her bow a couple of times, but missed. Finally Remus did his “flurry of blows,” and the giant fell.

We reviewed Pim’s tactics. Some said he maybe should have kept a distance and shot his crossbow, instead of going toe to toe, but Pim just said “I’d do it again.” A brave kobold.
